Now...An area of widespread rain with scattered embedded thunderstorms will continue to move rapidly northeast at 55 mph across much of southeast Louisiana...Including Metropolitan new orleans...And portions of south Mississippi through 2 am. Thunderstorms moving across inland areas of southeast Louisiana will produce occasional lightning and rainfall rates of one half to one inch per hour. Farther south...Storms along and south of a warm frontal boundary just off the southeast Louisiana coast May become strong to severe as they also race northeast at 50 knots across the coastal waters between southwest pass and the lower Atchafalaya River and extending offshore over 60 nautical miles and possibly some immediate coastal sections. The main threat from the stronger storms will be strong wind gusts over 34 knots and possible waterspouts.
