Now...Through noon...Numerous showers and a few thunderstorms along a line extending from just west of lake okeechobee southward through inland collier and inland sections of mainland monroe county will continue to move east at About 35 to 40 mph as it leaves the area over the next hour or so. The strongest storms capable of producing wind gusts in excess of 35 mph...Some lightning strikes...And torrential downpours...Producing rainfall rates between one and two inches per hour...Can be expected with this activity mainly across southern portions of the line as it moves into portions of broward and miami dade counties to the east. This rainfall will result in significant ponding of water on roadways and in flood prone areas. There is also an elevated threat for tornadoes with the strongest shower and thunderstorm activity.
