Now...Flood watch in effect from 1 am est Wednesday through Wednesday morning... Widespread light to moderate rain...And a brief period of sleet will continue northeastward over much of northern Virginia and southern Maryland this evening. This activity will continue to increase in intensity and coverage along the highway 29 corridor of northern Virginia...And into the southern suburbs of the Washington metro area this evening. The leading edge of precipitation...Moving through the i-66 corridor...Will continue into the northern suburbs of the Washington metropolitan area before 9 pm...And eventually into the baltimore metro area closer to 10 pm. Precipitation will begin as light rain...With a mix of sleet and a few snow flakes for a period...Then change to all rain over the course of the late evening. Surface temperatures will gradually drop from the upper 30s into the middle 30s across these areas. A tenth of an inch or less is expected with this activity through 10 pm...With little or no accumulation of snow or sleet expected.
