Now...The short term forecast for northern erie, niagara, orleans, and genesee counties. At 640 am a disorganized band of lake effect snow extended across northern erie, southern niagara, and western portions of orleans and genesee counties. The band is expected to remain fairly stationary through 9 and become better defined. The heaviest activity through the rush hour is expected to be from buffalo, across the northern suburbs, including Extreme southern niagara county. Snowfall could reach rates of an inch an hour in the strongest portions of the band by mid morning. The morning commute will be tricky, with slushy accumulations expected, especially on secondary roads, bridges, and overpasses.
