Regional Weather Discussion...Light freezing drizzle will become more widespread through the night across much of western north Texas and western central and northern Oklahoma. Roads will become slick and icy in some areas. Radar at 1230 am indicated widespread light precipitation from eastern New Mexico across the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles into western north Texas and much of western and central Oklahoma. Coverage was increasing. Surface reports indicated that most of the precipitation was aloft and not reaching the ground... But there were an increasing number of surface observations indicating light freezing drizzle. Freezing drizzle was reported in the Oklahoma city and norman areas just after midnight. A further increase in radar coverage is likely overnight... And more of the light precipitation will reach the ground over a larger area by 3 am. Amounts will be very light... Only a trace in many areas... But very little will be needed to leave a thin layer of ice on exposed surfaces... Including Roadways. Remember that bridges and overpasses will probably be the first road surfaces to ice up. The freezing line at 1230 am extended from near vernon Texas and frederick Oklahoma... To near lawton... Duncan... Pauls valley... Ada... And holdenville. Any precipitation north of these areas will freeze on contact... And could mix with light sleet or snow at Times especially in northwestern Oklahoma. South of these areas... Some light rain or drizzle May occur but will not freeze. Temperatures generally will remain steady through late tonight... And so the freezing line will likely move very little.
