Regional Weather Discussion...A potent winter storm continues to unfold over Oklahoma and western north Texas this morning. A variety of winter weather will affect much of western north Texas and western and parts of central Oklahoma through this afternoon in advance of an upper level storm system over north Texas. At 1045 am...Snow was prevalent...Mainly west of a wichita falls Texas...To lawton...To anadarko...Western Oklahoma city... And enid Oklahoma. An area of sleet...Snow and freezing rain was occurring near and just east of interstate 35... Including Parts of the Oklahoma city metro and lawton areas. Northerly winds continued with sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph common and numerous gusts over 50 mph. This is causing considerable blowing and drifting of snow and reduced visibility. As the upper level system continues to move slowly eastward across northern Texas...Snow...Heavy at Times will continue over western north Texas and parts of western Oklahoma and gradually spread northeastward into central and southeast Oklahoma during the day. Strong north wind will also continue through the day with gusts over 50 mph common. The strong winds will result in considerable blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibilities. Roads are already becoming slick and hazardous over many locations and conditions will likely deteriorate further east during the morning. Conditions on area roadways will not improve significantly through the afternoon hours. Caution is advised this afternoon and this evening if travel is necessary.
