Now...Through 3 am...Snow and sleet will taper off over western North Carolina as the low pressure system tracks further northeast. An additional 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible in the higher elevations over the next few hours while the foothills and piedmont should receive mostly sleet and freezing rain. Driving remains very dangerous in many areas...Thus individuals are urged to travel only if necessary.
