For the lower southern Maryland including Charles...Calvert and st. Marys counties and king george county in Virginia...Through 2 pm...Periods of snow continue. Bands of snow will move through alternating between heavy snowfall of 1 to 2 inches per hour rates interspersed with lighter snowfall...With rates of one half inch per hour or less expected. Thunder is possible in the heavier snow bands. Temperatures will remain well below freezing. Winds will be northerly gusting to 35 mph. These winds combined with heavy snow will create whiteout blizzard like conditions at Times...With visibilities below one quarter of a mile and some drifting of snow. Interests along the shores of the tidal potomac and western chesapeake bay should monitor water levels as tides will be 2 feet above normal.
