Now...A narrow band of snow over western Illinois will be overspreading north central and northeast Illinois by midnight...Before moving into northwest Indiana. Light rain has developed across much of the area this evening. Temperatures at Present are a little too warm for snow to reach the surface...However...As precipitation continues to cool the lower levels of the atmosphere...And colder air filters into the region on brisk northwest winds...A change over to snow is expected to occur. This should take place along the interstate 39 corridor by 930 pm cst...Then reach the western suburbs of chicago by 1030...And finally overspread the remainder of northeast Illinois by about 1100 pm. Temperatures are expected to remain just above freezing as this period of snow moves through...So little or no accumulation is expected.
